YouTube isn't profitable yet, but that doesn't mean you can't make money on the video sharing site.

We recently profiled 10 YouTube stars who have already figured out how to make hundreds of thousands of dollars off their videos. We estimated one star, Philip DeFranco, makes $181,000 per year.

As easy as folks like Philip make it look, however, the road to making money on YouTube isn't smooth. It takes plenty of time, patience, and luck to see a payout of any sort.

To make life easier for the average YouTube user, we've created a step-by-step guide on what you need to do to become the next Philip DeFranco and begin making money on YouTube.

Before you even pick up your camera...
YouTube will NOT let you make money off your video if it...

" ... contains content that you didn't create or get permission from its creator to use."
" ... shows people from whom you did not get permission."
" ... has content that would be inappropriate for children."

Cover songs do NOT count as original content
Justin Bieber can't make money off the YouTube videos that catapulted him to pop stardom.

Why? Because the King of YouTube's first videos were of him singing a bunch of songs that he never received permission to cover.

So, don't bother uploading a video of your Journey tribute band.

STEP 1: Make an awesome video!

Get a video camera
Record puppies, kittens, and anything else that can turn a video into a viral hit
Edit your raw footage into a short, watchable video

(Click here for beginner tips for making professional-quality web video)

STEP 2: Upload your video to YouTube
While waiting for your video to upload, come up with a catchy yet simple and easily searchable title.

For example, "Charlie bit my finger," "Sneezing Panda," and "David after Dentist" are legendary viral videos with self-explanatory titles that seem to roll off the tongue.

STEP 3: Repeat steps 1 and 2
What separates a major YouTube Partner like Philip DeFranco from the average YouTube user is that the former knows how to distribute and market their videos to maximize viewership.

If you ever want to be a YouTube Partner, you have to "regularly upload videos that are viewed by thousands of YouTube users."

So, keep on making videos and distributing them to social networks and media outlets.

STEP 4A: Check your inbox
If one of your videos does well, YouTube will send you an email with this subject line: "Apply for revenue sharing for your video (Video Title)."

However, if approved, you can only make money from the video specified in the email.

STEP 4B: Apply through YouTube's Partner Program page
If you think you finally have enough video uploads AND views, you can apply directly for partnership on YouTube's Partner Program page.

Once approved, you'll be able to turn on revenue sharing for all your videos (as long as they meet the criteria), and you can even rent out your videos.

STEP 5: Start the application process
Read through the YouTube Partnership Program tutorial, and double-check that you haven't violated ANY of their rules.

NOTE: If YouTube rejects your application...
" ... you will not be able to apply to the program again for 2 months."

STEP 6: Create a Google AdSense Account
Once you're done reviewing the guidelines, you need to link a Google AdSense account to your YouTube account.

This is how Google/YouTube will pay you for your awesome video(s).

NOTE: YouTube will only pay you once your video makes $100...

STEP 7: Be patient
YouTube could take up to 2 weeks to review your video.

STEP 8A: Start making money!

Soulja BoyOnce you're approved, you can turn on overlay ads that pop up on the bottom of a video, banner ads that appear next to the video, and/or pre-roll ads that play in front of your video.

STEP 8B: Go back to Step 1

iStockphotoIf YouTube rejected your application, you obviously didn't follow one of these steps.

You have another two months before you can apply again; so, get back to working on your videos.

If you followed these steps, you could end up like...

Earn Money With Google Adsense

What is Google Adsense and how do I get a Publisher ID?

In order for writers to earn money for the Google Adsense ads on their Infobarrel articles we require that you have a Google Adsense account. If you don't already have a Google Adsense account, you will need to sign up for one, as we need you to provide us with your Google Adsense Publisher ID.
First of all, you will need to sign up for a Google Adsense account. It may take several days to receive your approval depending on how back logged Google is. To sign up, point your browser to https://www.google.com/adsense/g-app-single-1 and fill out the form.
If you don't already have a website, you can just place the url of your Infobarrel profile as your website URL when signing up. For example, if my user name on InfoBarrel is 'test', my url would be 'http://www.Infobarrel.com/Users/test'. If you are going to use your Infobarrel profile as your Google Adsense ID, make sure you have at least one approved article, otherwise Google may deny your account due to your profile being 'under construction'.
Make sure you fill out all the Google Adsense information out correctly because they will be sending you your checks for your earnings. The wrong address, means no checks!
That is pretty much it, once you have been approved, login to Google Adsense by going to http://www.google.com/adsense . Once logged in, in the very top right corner you will see 'Publisher ID:'. All Publisher IDs start with the prefix 'pub-' followed by a combination of numbers. This is the publisher ID that we require in your profile in order to credit you with your ad impressions. Make sure you grab this ID, place it in Google Adsense Publisher ID field in your profile and save it.
For more detailed help on signing up for Google Adsense, please point your browser to https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/topic.py?topic=8422
Once you have been approved for your account, you will want to set up a Channel to track your views and clicks on InfoBarrel. For help setting up a channel take a look at this page: https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=13993

Make Money Writing Simple Web Articles

Make Money Writing Simple Web Articles

What is the one thing that everyone is looking for when they go online? You’ve got it – information. And if you can supply it in all kinds of shapes and forms then you will be paid for doing so, which could lead to a whole new career as a web writer.

Of course it isn’t just online markets that need content; there are hundreds of other markets you could break into as well, including magazines, but overall it is the internet which offers the best opportunities, especially for the beginning writer.

So why should you start online when you want to earn money writing? The reason is simple – it isn’t just editors that need your work. Website owners, people with newsletters that need writing and countless others all have writing jobs that they can’t or won’t do or don’t have the time to do themselves. That generally sends them scurrying to websites like Elance and Get A Freelancer to find people who will write the articles and content they need for them. There are plus points and negative points to writing for the internet; you won’t often see your work published under your own name as you will usually be ghostwriting it for someone else, but you will get a lot of work since jobs quite often come in batches. You won’t often get just a single article to write for instance – you might get a half dozen, ten, twenty or even more, so the money can soon mount up.

The best places for finding work are the aforementioned sites, but you should also look on classified ad sites such as Craigslist for jobs in your own country and in other places around the world. There are also plenty of writing related websites that can easily be found via the search engines if you look for ‘online writing jobs’ or something similar. Don’t forget blogging jobs as well; if you have your own blog then you already have experience in blogging, so apply for as many as you can. Ongoing blogging jobs are great for bringing in a regular stream of income.

Getting started and building contacts is the hardest part. Go for jobs you feel confident in doing to begin with; after a while you will pick up speed and complete them faster and much more easily. You will soon learn to juggle your work as well in order to meet all your deadlines before they fall due – this is an essential skill you will need to develop in order to position yourself as one of the best in the business.

You could also work for a ghostwriting team if you prefer; these can also be found via the search engines and a simple email should reveal whether they are accepting new writers at any time. This can make life easier since you don’t have to go looking for work all the time – it is generally supplied by the team leader, depending on how that particular team works.

But can you really make a full time income by doing this? The answer is yes you can, but speed and quality are of the essence. If you produce good work then people will naturally come back to you for more of the same. They will also pay more for work of a better standard, so make sure you don’t put yourself down with the $2 an article crowd.

It will take time to build up enough work to be able to leave your current job and start a brand new career as a web writer, but there is no reason why you shouldn’t be able to do this if you persevere and keep checking the classified ad sites and job boards every single day. Don’t wait to apply for jobs either – do it as soon as you see them appear. Getting in early can make all the difference in some cases.

So do you think you have it in you to be a writer? If you do there is a huge market out there just waiting for you to dive in. Just remember where you came from, and leave us a comment by using the form below before you go and begin your new career!

How To Make Money Blogging

How To Make Money Blogging

More and more people are realising that blogging is one of the best ways to start your own online business. It requires minimal start up costs, you can build an impressive and loyal readership over time and once you know how to monetize your blog it can also bring in a decent income that will keep on coming even on the days when you don’t update your blog.
There are several ways to set up a blog online. You could use WordPress, Blogger, or another free site that hosts your blog for you; or alternatively you can set up your own blog under your own domain name.
If you want to make serious money from blogging, you must have complete control over your blog – and that’s something the free blogging accounts won’t give you. You’ll be bound by their terms and conditions and that usually includes not being able to actively promote anything. There are plenty of people who have established a blog only to have it removed without notice some weeks or months later.
It will cost you a few dollars to buy your domain name and set up a web server that will host your blog, but the benefits will far outweigh the cost involved. It can literally be as little as $20 a year we’re talking about here – and that buys you total freedom.
Once you’re ready to set your blog up you’ll need to choose a good theme and layout for it. You might find one that relates to your choice of subject (more on that in a moment) or else there might be one you just like the look of. But there are thousands of templates available for you to use – a simple search on Google will reveal the ones that will be best suited to your topic.
But perhaps the most important question is what you are going to blog about. The whole world is your oyster here – some people blog about their lives in general; some blog about their jobs; some blog about their hobbies; some tell the world about their kids and what it’s like to be a parent, and still others blog about the weird world of celebrities. But whatever you choose to blog about it needs to be something you are passionate about. Don’t forget, you are going to be writing about this topic several times a week, and if you don’t have the enthusiasm for it, that will show in your posts – and no one else will have the enthusiasm to read them.
Okay – so you’ve got your subject. Now you have to start writing your blog posts. If you take a look at just a few of the blogs already online, you’ll notice that the length of the posts varies a lot. Some people only write a paragraph or two each time, but you’ll get better results if you go for something a little longer than this. Around 400 to 500 words makes for a good post with a lot of information in it; some people write hugely long posts that are thousands of words long and could be called an e-book by another name.
But you can also take the format of this blog, by posting a short blog entry which leads into a longer article. This has the benefit of highlighting a lot of blog posts on the home page of the site, and people can then click through and read the ones they like the most.
You should remember however that there are no real rules when it comes to blogging. Over time you will naturally find what works for you, and your blog will settle down into a nice pattern that both you and your readers will enjoy. You’ll find your character and personality will start to come through in your writing too; don’t fight against this as it is one of the hallmarks of blogging. It is, after all, a personal account of an individual’s life and experiences, so show people what you’re made of! You’ll get a more loyal – and bigger – audience like this.
So you’ve got your blog up and running and you’re posting to it on a regular basis. The next step is to get it in front of as many interested eyeballs as possible.
One great way to do this is to submit it to as many of the social bookmarking sites as possible. You can also join social networking sites and build a profile which contains a link to your blog. Other no cost ways to generate traffic include writing free articles for article directories with a link to your blog at the end, and creating signatures at the end of any posts you make to internet forums, and also in all the emails you send out. When you really start thinking about it, you don’t actually need to spend anything to generate plenty of traffic.
All we need to do now is monetize the blog itself. You’ll want to generate some money from all the visitors you’ll start getting, and there are plenty of ways to do this easily. Google Adsense is probably the most well known method – you can join the program for free and display contextual ads that your visitors will be interested in to maximise your click through rate.
There are also a handful of websites which give you the opportunity to get paid for each blog post you make on a specific subject. Pay Per Post and Review Me are two such examples, and they will pay you a certain amount of money to review a product or website for the owner. In a similar vein you can also review and recommend other people’s products through affiliate links inserted into your blog posts, and earn money on commissions earned through any purchases people make.
And once you’re more established you can offer ad space on your blog too, and charge a fee for both classified and display ads if you wish. What could be better than setting your own price?
But there is one final step you can take with your blog if you enjoy a change of scene every now and again. You can sell your blog! Once it is established and has plenty of revenue and traffic, you can usually sell it for ten times its monthly revenue.
And then, you can start all over again with a whole new subject!
So that’s it – profitable blogging in a nutshell. If you have any questions feel free to leave your comments in the form below. And once you’ve done that, get out there and get started building your first blog today.

How To Make Money With Facebook

How To Make Money With Facebook

If you always wanted to earn online income but didn’t know where to start, why not jump on the most popular social network site and take advantage of their ad serving platform?
Featured Story:
Believe it or not, tens of thousand of people are using Facebook every day to chat with their friends and have fun… while others are making money at the same time.
Would you like to know how to cash-it on this social phenomenon?
Would $5… $50… or $150 in additional income make you happier? What would you do with the “new found” money?
Let’s make it happen, here are three quick steps:
Step #1
Once you have signed up to Facebook your first step should be to think about how you want to present yourself. You don’t want to fake it, just be yourself and showcase your skill, your hobby or knowledge – that is what makes money from Facebook.
Don’t forget that you want to attract the attention of a specific group of people here, so that you become known as someone who is something of an expert on one particular subject. So choose wisely!
Step #2
Go for a popular niche that you personally like and have an interest in. Develop your persona in that area. If you already have something of a web presence in a particular area then you’ll use that in your advantage because — it will help you as more and more people become aware of who you, your skill/knowledge and how this can help them.
Step #3
Your first port of call, if you have anything second hand to sell which is related to your niche, is the Marketplace. It’s free to place ads in the Marketplace and there is no limit on how many you can place.
EXAMPLE: you come across a bargain lot of books on your subject on eBay or at a yard sale you can list them all individually on Facebook and sell them on for a profit.
If you have a budget to spend on advertising and you have some external websites you want to promote, you can try out the Social Ads to see what benefits you get from them. It is well worth reading through the relevant help section to see what is involved though, as it is quite in depth.
FACEBOOK BEST ADVANTAGE:
The main benefit of becoming a Facebook member is that you can build and use any number of applications to perform certain tasks on your profile page.
The GREAT NEWS is that Facebook doesn’t frown at users making money from their Facebook page, and indeed many people link in to other websites outside of Facebook itself.
People are constantly building new applications and often they are used by many other users to create pages that appeal to their own particular needs.
This is partly why you will succeed in making more money from Facebook if you brand yourself carefully before you get started on the site.
BRANDING YOURSELF?
Figure out what it is you want to do and what you want to achieve. If you already have a website up and running then you will be able to link into that, so keep the look and feel of your Facebook page in the same vein as your site.
But while you can link to other sites outside of Facebook, some people also sprinkle some affiliate links on their actual Facebook page itself. For example, some quick research revealed one person who links into a range of ClickBank products on their page and does well from doing so.
So long as you start from a strong position with a particular focus and brand in mind, you can do well by experimenting with all the benefits that Facebook offers (and they’re growing).
Take time to build up a network of friends and make sure you become known for being an expert in your particular sphere of interest/niche.
Exposure is what you should aim for. The more people you make friends with and add to your network, the more money you should be generating. However, don’t make the mistake to go after “friends” for money.
Put people first, money will follow. It’s like in the real life, just a different medium, the same communication skills and principles apply though.
You should always sound, look and act real, don’t pretend to be someone else. People feel it nowadays more than ever.

How to Make Money From Affiliate Marketing

How to Make Money From Affiliate Marketing:Affiliate Marketing is an Internet-based marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts. It is an application of crowdsourcing.
The Affiliate Marketing industry has four core players at its heart: the Merchant (also known informally as 'Retailer' or 'Brand'), the Network, the Publisher (also known informally as 'the Affiliate') and the Customer. The market has grown sufficiently in complexity to warrant a secondary tier of players, including Affiliate Management Agencies, Super-Affiliates and Specialized Third Parties vendors.
Marketing and selling someone else's product through a link is affiliate marketing. The seller, called the affiliate, signs up with a company such as eBay, Amazon or and of the thousands of companies and individuals that have affiliate marketing networks in place. The affiliate is then given links to sell the product and may be given banner ads and other promotional items that will help them to make sales. Each time someone clicks through the links or banner ads that were placed by the affiliate, goes to the seller's site and then buys the product, the affiliate earns a commission. A commission is usually a percentage of the sale price, but it may be a flat rate instead.
How to Place Affiliate Links:
Many Internet marketers use article directories to place useful information that's geared toward people who will be interested in the product that's being advertised. There are some article directories that allow affiliate ads, but some, such as Ezine Articles, don't allow affiliate links at all. To use article directories for affiliate marketing, concentrate on article directories that have high page rank and that allow affiliate links. These include Article Dashboard and Article Pool.
Other sites that allow affiliate links include eHow, Bukisa and Xomba. The affiliate links added to eHow and Bukisa must pertain to the general topic of the article submitted to the site. With Xomba, the link itself can be bookmarked.
